Speaking of making sporrans...
I know I have already posted some photos of a sporran I recently made. Well... I got bored, had some extra leather, and decided to make a kid's sized sporran.
Opinions welcome, though I already know some of ya think the leather is too thick. I DO have some thinner stuff I am working with at the moment. Pics of the new stuff will come as I finish.
The front:

The back:

The side:

EDIT: Oh yeah... I'm waiting on a closure for it, so it's not 100% finished yet.

Looks like a nice start. I'd burnish the edges on the flap though, for a more finished look. The back/flap piece appears to be about 4-5 oz veg tan. You could forego a closure device by just wet forming the flap. I made a leather box for a sewing/repair kit I carry with my reenacting gear. It's made of the same weight leather. I wet formed the flap, keeps itself closed nicely.
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.

Actually, the front and back pieces are 9oz veg tan. Thick stuff. I have since purchased a good amount of 5 ounce stuff... looks a lot better.
As for the flap... it is wet formed. I mainly want a closure on there for aesthetic reasons.

My pleasure. Really. Working with leather is rather relaxing.
I did manage to hose up sporran #3's gusset. I have plenty of leather, so I can fix it easily enough.

Did you easy-stitch that one or awl and needle Blazn? Just wondering what the round marks on the back around the holes where. I do like the glyph on the back, kind of a Volknut. Can you explain it a little? -nosey occultist here...

I guess you could say easy stitched. The method I used to assemble the whole sporran is the same. I used my leather punch on it's smallest setting to punch holes at regular intervals into all three pieces of leather. Then I used waxed hemp string (it works, it doesn't look bad, and I was able to procure 250 YARDS of it for US$0.00) to stitch it together. I believe that kind of stitching is referred to as "saddle stitching." The circular impressions are from the "anvil" on the leather punch.

Well... I've kind of started myself a small business. I've actually been making kilts and sporrans to sell. I haven't mentioned it here on XMarks because there are so many other vendors. I can't produce the volumes that these other vendors can, mainly because I only get 3 or 4 hours per night to work on kilts or sporrans. Right now, my clientele is predominately rennies.
Anyway, I've named my business "CroMag Kilts." The "glyph" you see is my logo:

I'm glad you like it... I designed the thing myself.

This one is my 4th attempt.
This is from the 3rd pattern I drafted, hence the "model three."

Technical data...
This front and back of this one are made from 6oz. tooling leather... that I think doesn't tool very well. The gusset is the last of my 5oz. garment leather. Fortuneately, I have some 4oz grey suede wiating to be worked.
Dimensions... 7.5" at the widest point (7.25 at the mouth) by 8" tall by 1.5" deep.
In response to the "big man, big sporran" thread, I just drafted a sporran that measures 9" wide (8.75 at the mouth) by 8.5" tall. Depth is determined by the size of the gusset, which I cut out just before I'm ready to produce the sporran. I figure I'll make it in the neighborhood of 3 or 4 inches.
