Tiny Kilt

I made a kilt in Rose tartan for a fellow and he asked if there was enough material left over could I make a kilt for his 14 month old grandson, well it's just so adorable I had to post a picture.

He's going to send me a photo of both of them in their kilts later.

Nice job on the tiny kilt!!!! Lucky little boy!

I just posted the following pic in another thread - it's the kilt I made for my grandson when he was a couple months old (and worn with an appropriate onesie!). My sewing shears for scale show just how teeny tiny it was!!

I've made a few kilts for the grandkids but they've all been just kind of one offs for a family get together. Some day I'm going to have to make a few from old kilts

This is a great strategy. You don't even need to take much apart. Just cut the kilt horizontally right at the bottom of the fell and discard the stitched pleats part. That doesn't have useable fabric in it anyway because the pleats are cut out. Then just pull the tartan out straight, press it, and you're good to go. All you have to take out beyond that are the two facing edges!

is so far the kilts have been very popular with the kids because they loved clan dinosaur, clan superhero and clan pokemon although I think a real kilt would be pretty exciting for them.
It would also make making sporrans easier because each clan got it's own sporran. (pictured Clan Pokémon)

The book is something I will seriously have to consider in the spring as I only looked at my kilts and tried to figure how to reverse engineer it and really had a lot of frustrating moments .
