    Two new sporrans just completed.

These were both completed using recycled material from old fur coats, leather products and salvaged brass bits. The cantle was a base for a candle holder I bought at a thrift shop for $2.
I cut it in half, and made two sporran tops. The holes were already drilled and tapped for me when I bought it.

The group shot is the collection I've cobbled together so far. Each project has its own challenges but teaches me something more about sporran construction.IMG_20150323_164141.jpg IMG_20150323_164209.jpgIMG_20150323_164339.jpg

That's great! I have used other items to make cantles too. I'm just finishing up a brass cantle (made from a lamp base) that I had nickel plated for a dress sporran which I will post soon.

Those are nice. I like the way you repurposed the candle holder, and I see you found a good use for that brass badge. That is quite a collection you have, I`m trying to come up with a word to describe your style, but for now I will just have to say "unique." Great to see more of your work.

Great looking work...curious, how do you decide which one to wear?

I have an art studio/gallery so I can show them off anytime we host an event.
We have a couple of fellows that wear kilts so we can switch them up frequently.
    Always a good conversation starter.

Er, mine? Still in the research stages, having no prior experience with formal, cantle-style sporran construction (only flap-style daywear and 'Rob Roy' types). We'll see how it goes.

You might consider a Prince Charlie style formal sporran with a fur flap and silver or brass details backed with leather in the centre of the flap.
