X Marks has the honor of having as our own Tartan the world's first internet Tartan. Designed by Matt Newsome, Director of the Scottish Tartans Museum and a Govenor of the Scottish Tartans Authority, it was registered with The Scottish Tartans Authority as ITI # 6679 in July of 2005. While the colors of many Tartans have no meaning ours were chosen to reflect the essential elements of this forum. Using a Blue background with a prominant White stripe to represent our name X Marks, the Gray lines to remind us of the typing on our computer screens, and the Yellow stripe to remind us of both the Smilie faces we love to use and also the Dandelion which is our official plant. The X Marks the Scot Tartan is the official Tartan of this forum and is authourized for wear by any member. If you do not have a Tartan or feel you are uncomfortable wearing another Tartan then please, as a member of this forum, wear this Tartan with pride. There have been many Kilts made from the X Marks Tartan. If you would like some fabric in the X Marks Tartan we will try to always have some in stock and available for you.
