    No more quick reply?

As of yesterday afternoon, I no longer get a quick reply box at the bottom of the page when viewing threads. Is this an across-the-board thing, or is it just me?

Yeah, same here, of course, it shows up when I hit reply, and seems to work just fine that way. It's not just you Tobus, I'm wondering if it's a further update to the forum?

Clicking "+Reply To Thread" goes to the option of "Quick Reply" or "Go Advanced". I usually go advanced so I can preview before I post. This means I only have to edit the final submission 10 times rather than the usual 43.

Ah, I see. Yep, hitting the "+ Reply to Thread" button makes the quick reply box magically appear. The extra click is a tad annoying, but I can live with it.

I tend not to use the advanced button, since it requires a whole new page load. For some reason, this forum takes FOREVER to load on my machine. Sometimes it's a full minute for all the scripts to finish loading (these pages are very heavily-laden with code, and really makes browsing the forum a sluggish affair). So I tend to avoid having to load new pages as much as possible.

But anyway, as long as I can get to the quick reply, I'm good. Thanks for the help.

OK, that is bizarre. There have been no changes that I am aware of. I will look into this.

I'd noticed this change too, within the past couple of days and had just assumed it was an intentional update.

Ah, folks, I'm sorry. This may have been me.

We have had quite a few members post in the Tech Section about not being able to post or having trouble posting. I was attempting to look into this. My criteria was I was looking for things that were different today from the older version of the forum of three months ago.

One of the things I noticed was that the quick reply settings were different than they were before. Before the upgrade there was alway the "Reply to Thread" button. In the newer version the button was gone and replaced with a permanently open reply box. I don't remember changing this back to our pre-upgrade version, but may have. I do remember thinking that the way things used to be worked fine and wondering why it was different now and could this be the reason members were having problems.

If you don't mind I would prefer not to screw things up by making random changes to the software settings. Let's see if I actually changed us back to a pre-upgrade setting or if this is a further problem cropping up.

Rob and I will keep you updated with what we find. If anyone experiences further problems please let us know by posting to this thread.

Thanks and if I changed something I'm sorry.

Have you tried Chrome or Firefox for you internet browser. We are migrating to Chrome in my office, because it loads quicker and smoother.

Steve, it's all good. The functionality is still there; I just didn't know how to get to it.

I have used Firefox for years. The issue seems to be my internet service (I use a Sprint 4G card). And the service isn't that great, to be honest. But other pages on the internet seem to load up decently. It's just this forum that seems to take forever. I can sit there, watching it load each component of the page. The tartan background, the titles, the advertisements, my user info at the right side, the avatars, etc. There's just a lot for it to load since there are a lot of 'extras' loaded onto this forum, and for some reason (unlike other pages), it doesn't seem to use my cache or cookies to speed up the process. Every single time I load a new page on this forum, I have to sit and wait for full functionality.

Tobus, I too use firefox but have the exact opposite problem. When I first log on in the morning my pages take quite a while because it is loading the last page I was looking at from my cache. As soon as I update by hitting "New Posts" every thing runs smooth.
