Black Highland Athletes
ALCON,
Got a guy at work that does power lifting contests, figure he's rip for a new challenge. Want to encourage him to look into Highland heavies. Do any of you know of or know any successful black highland athletes or may have some photos for inspiration. Thanks for looking.

Suggestion. Encourage your friend to become a Highland Athlete and not a "Black" Highland Athlete.

There is at least on black thrower at many of the games here in the Mid Atlantic area. I will try to find some pictures. I am sure he would be welcomed.

My google-fu might be weak, but I suspect there aren't a lot of black dudes competing at highland games, and I think that's a shame. Cycling is the same way, just not a lot of brothers who want to race bikes for some reason.
I did turn up one brief article though:

I hope this will inspire your buddy to get himself a Sport Kilt and go kill it this summer .

I googled the guy in the article, Harrison Bailey, and it turned up some more photos and videos of him throwing. Good stuff.

Geoff, Ratspike,
Thank you. I appreciate the effort. I found that my Google-fu was also weak. I know that I have seen some VERY good athletes, but they were in person and so therefor I had no names to start with in the search. I assumed that all the guys here that swim in that pond would know someone.
I know that Dan John has been playing for quite some time, but he is the only name I know. I don't know if he is ranked in any manner. He does a lot of Strongman comps., or at least he did.
I look forward to the results.

Amen, brother.
My name's Willie Campbell, I'm a ship's engineer
And I know every berth between Lisbon and Largo
I've sweated more diesel in thirty-five years
Than a big tanker takes for a cargo
Of the good times I've always had plenty
When the whisky and the women were wild
And there's many's the wean wi' the red locks o' the Campbells
Who's ne'er seen the coast of Argyll
But now as the freighters unload on the quay
The sound of the engines is calling to me
And it sings me a song of the sun and the sea and the stars
For the rovin' dies hard.
