First Game of the Season This Weekend
Well, here it is. The first competition of the season. Training has been sporatic due to the lovely NW weather and a special bear hunting season. So this weekend is Bellingham, my annual season opener. I feel pretty good about it. I wish I had more practice, but we must all make sacrafices. As of last night my numbers are pretty solid. Hammers are way up this year. I finally made the switch to Blades. It has only helped. My advice, be sure the technique is there befor going to Blades. They really help amplify what you are already doing, both good and bad!
These are my aveage numbers..................Goals
22# Heavy Stone-------29'......................33'
16# Open Stone--------39'......................44'
LWFD------------------61'......................67'
HWFD------------------29'......................35'
16# Hammer------------104'....................110'
22# Hammer------------80'......................90'
WOB-------------------12'.......................13'
Sheaf------------------25'.......................28'
Caber 17' 90#----------11 to 1..................bigger and better
I will give an update after this weekend!
Cheers,

Bellingham went great, in some areas, and not so great in others! I don't have the exact #s, these are pretty close though.
17# Open stone............35' and change
HWFD..........................30'4"
LWFD...........................62'3"
20# Sheaf.....................21'
16# Hammer..................99'11 1/4" (ok, so this one is exact!)
56# WOB......................12'
17.5' 100# Caber............75 degree
I was bummed on the stones, kept putting way to much energy up, instead of out. The sheaf was super tight and kept binding on the forks. Great excuses eh?
Anyhow, I placed first in both weights, sheaf and hammer, with a second in WOB...for an overall of 1st place!!!!! Wahoo! My first A division win!
Next up, Prosser on the 19th.

Forgot to tell ya, we also did a Farmers Walk. It was spontaneous. Someone donated some plate steel with handles welded on, about the size of a large brief case. Each weighed 150#. I completed 300'. The three who beat me were 311', 324' and 368'. I have never done that before! It was a blast.

I have a line on two, 100 lb bulldozer bucket balance weights. They are made with a bit that would work perfectly with a handle. Problem is, they're too heavy for the ladies and not heavy enough for the lads!
Good job on the walk.

Who was the older gentleman in the center of this shot? I wasn't able to stick around for most of the event (prior commitment to the Clan Donald booth) but what I saw he could really throw the 26 pounder.

That is Brett Milton, also known as "Hollywood", likes to show off for the crowd. Also, John Odden was not at this event. That was actually Jason Montgomery, from Portland, Or. Just like to keep the info accurate.
