Heavy athletic competitors in Stl Mo

What's going Ladies and Gents? I'm brand new to this forum. I have a few questions. Are there any heavy athletic competitors in the Saint Louis, Missouri area? I'm looking to get started in the games but I need some help. any advice is appreciated.

Welcome from St. Louis! I don't compete (too small, old, and out of shape), but there are three main events here. The St. Louis Scottish Games, usually held in October in Forest Park; St. Charles Tartan Days, usually held in April at Frontier Park; and Irish Days which is held on Memorial Day weekend, also at Frontier Park, St. Charles. Do a search on those and you should be able to find some information and contacts for competing.

Hi, Seth. The only guy I know from Missouri who throws is Thom Van Vleck, he's in Green Top. However, if you had to know just ONE guy, you could do a lot worse than Thom. Thom has been training for years, decades... and is a topnotch competitor in the 40's Masters, now. Thom also helps promote at least a couple of Games every year. Thom is a staunch Christian and is involved in a strongman for Christ show, which was a new concept for me, but hey....If he believes int it, more power to him.

if you drop by the North American Scottish Games Association website...http://www.nasgaweb.com and put a post up in the forum, you will probably connect with Thom. He's also on Facebook.

    Buncha USAWA articles by Thom...

Thom also helps promote and put on the Highland Games in Kirksville. Looks like he posts on this forum...you can probably join and shoot him a message. Thom will know EVERYBODY.
