Help!
Hey Guys, I'm a sad flabby unmotivated mess! I put off what was to be my off season training plan because of an impending surgery that luckily was decided that was unneccessary. But in that time of sitting on my duff I've gotten fat and lazy.
My workout routine consist of twice a week squats, bench, cleans, military press and dead lifts followed by lounging in the hot tub. I even stopped hitting the heavy bag! I'm a hot steamy mess LOL!
What I need from you is anything that will motivate me to get back into training before the season sneaks up on me.
So go ahead...shame me, slap me, inspire me--whatever it takes! Maybe others are in the same boat as me and this might help them.
My goal 2 years ago after overcoming a severe injury and one of those near-death things, was to make to the MWC some day. Well, I'm registered--and I can't even get my butt in gear to make sure that I don't embarass myself out there.
So go ahead--let it rip! Give me your best shot!
A note from our sponsor--just make sure it stays within the rules of xmarks

Well, not much of a morale booster, but...
I haven't even started getting in shape yet and I've already lost about 25 lbs. (by watching what I eat) I'm actually a little afraid of getting back into shape for one reason. I lost a lot of muscle mass and I'm afraid of getting all that mass back. I've never done body building, I've done a little of powerlifting and olympic lifting when I was playing rugby, but by then I've already lost a bit of mass by doing nothing..... (I was teaching natural sciences to kids at a 4-seasons camp) I was huge and I don't want to go back to that... I could never wear clothes that fit me. I measured my calves last year, 17 inches they used to be close to 24 inches.... (try to imagine the thighs...) I'm losing the fat, but my motivation to get back into shape is dampened by my fear of exploding.... Or returning to my ogre size. (which was actually a nickname that people gave me... )
So, you can do it, get back on your feet and throw heavy things around....
You know people are expecting you to break records right???

I think we all struggle with staying in shape or getting back in shape. Work along with kids and their activities consume large amounts of time. There are two things I do when I don't want to go for a run; 1. If I have time I watch Without Limits, which is a movie about Steve Prefontaine, 2. If I don't have a lot of time I watch this video about Dick and Rick Hoyt. If the second one can't get you going I don't know what will. To think what that dad does for his son and then for me to make an excuse not to exercise just kicks me in my "backside" and gets me out the door. Hope it helps.

If you get your butt in gear I'll bring Wendy the Trainer to Denver and get her drunk and then give her your hotel room number.
No, really...HONEST!

I recall an old story of Vince Lombardi, coach of the Packers:
During half-time, after a poor showing, the Packers sat... and sat... and sat in the locker room waiting for the expected scolding from Lombardi. With 5 minutes before the 2nd half started, coach Lombardi finally showed up: "Oh, sorry, I was looking for the MEN"S locker room, sorry ladies" and left. The Packers went on to win the 2nd half!
