Hey all, Hope your all having a good season. I'm winding down here, only a couple of small games left before the snow hits. This was to be my 'year' competing in the games. My goal was always to rehab my body after surgery, get good enough to throw in a few games for a year or two and see if I might make it to MWC, then who knows, maybe hang up the gear and call it a job well done. But what you guys didn't tell me, was how this really gets under ones skin! I've made my own sheafs, re-engineered my own sheaf fork, made my own practice weights, cut cabers...it all seems like such a shame to hang it all up I've even got a wall in my den where some competition 'hardware' now hangs. So...I'm staying with it and plan to make it to MWC in Canada next year! I also would like to see if I can make a West Coast game like Pleasanton. My Clan is having thier annual meeting there and it would sure be fun to go out there and throw. My goals: - Finish the few games I have left this summer and enjoy the heck out of them. -Work with a trainer to build an off season training program that makes sense (lifting and throwing when possible, all while keeping continued eye on rebuilt knee). -Find SOME way of not going bat-crap crazy when the temp is below zero and there's 4 feet of snow on the practice field. -Wear kilts -Brew Beer Sound like a plan? I think yer all stuck with me.

You know, I started all this as a distraction from sailing...when I didn't have a boat and had to postpone doing a TransPac. Now I'm addicted. And no, NONE of it makes sense.
I like your five step plan. Throw until it stops being fun.

my son wants to start. He is in powerlifting now but the highland games seem to have a siren song (probably done on bagpipes)
Mark, I am of no use on #1 or #2, but the rest are right up my ally. What games do you still have on your schedule? Any local?

I haven't heard back for a definite on Cedar Springs-near Grand Rapids on the 25th. We have a new one kicking off this year on October 2nd up in Boyne.
