Pete's whimping, winding way back into shape
Ugh. I've put it off for as long as I can. So I'm back to the gym. Because of a shoulder seperation, a diabetes diagnosis and what I thought would be surgery this year, I fell off the fitness wagon for a bit. Good news: glucose is under control, no surgery needed and the shoulder--eh, just another in a long line of former injuries.
So here's where I'm at:
Squats. I hate these. Especially after the knee surgery. Good news: I can finally squat 190-200 without and complaint from the knee. An entirely other issue when it comes to hamstrings Taking it slow. 3 sets: 2 at 200, 1 at 190.
Dead lifts: Nothing impressive here--just got back into to doing them--focusing on form.
Bench: Yep had to get back into these as well. Again--nothing impressive, easing back into them.
Military press: Still part of my shoulder re-hab.
Heavy bag: Yeah, I know--but once a boxer, always a boxer. 20 minutes. Helping me get my wind back. Good for core training.
Yoga: Been part of my routine since I was in the military. Helps my injuries and keeps me flexible. Good 'cool down' 20 minutes.
Hit the steam room (cuz I'm old and that's what we do )and a dip in a cold pool and that's it.
This is my plan for the next 3 weeks. After this, more core strength training and as much stone, WFD and hammer technique practice as I can squeeze in between the snows.
Thanks for the inspiration Alan.

I bet the heavy bag works your core a lot like sledgehammer does.
Good news on the knee and the glucose. Now just go slow and easy with that shoulder!
