Question on contests

I'm still pretty new to all of this. Why is it when I look at results on some highland games some do not have all 9 of the events. Some are missing the braemar or one other event I think. And I have even heard that they have held highland games with a farmers walk event. Is this becauase of the different organizations and different rules. I don't know how many organizations there are in the US i think at least 5 right?

Well, from the ones i've been to, they often don't have amateurs do all of the events that the masters do. Couldn't tell you why, really...
