    What to wear?

What kind of kilt do you (those who compete) wear while competing?

    Thanks,

    Zach

I don't compete but most of those that I know that do wear a Sport Kilt and usually one of the lower priced ones.

The most popular are either a Sport Kilt or the casual model from USA kilts. I think the USA kilts casual is a better choice.

I wear what's called a "Casual Kilt" in my clan tartan.

It's made of about half the yardage of the regular kilt and cost about half as well. Given that I run around with tacky on my hands and such, it's sufficient for my needs.

If representing your clan is not so important, a SportKilt is definitely the way to go. I'd stay away from Utilikilts for the athletic field. They're excellent otherwise.

What they all said. If you ever have thought about making yourself a kilt, a casual throwing kilt is an easy place to start. Nobody is going to inspect it.

    That's not specifically true, Alan.

There are almost always clutches of ladies styling themselves as "Kilt Inspectors" and the setup is this...One walks in front of you and drops something for you to pick up. Behind you are the rest of the group enjoying the view.

    srsly.

Ahhhh..the breeze is a dead give away! I wear either a sportkilt or a Stillwater economy or thirfty. I usually throw in my clan tartan. I'm lucky--both Sportkilt and Stilwater carry the MacLaren tartan.

I throw in a SWK thrifty Irish. also do all my training and lifting in it as well. good pair of compression shorts keeps me from getting kicked out of the gym lol. I thought about upgrading to a sport kilt but for a kilt that I will be suprised makes it all the way through a season i haven't bothered to cough up the cash. $30 is as close to gym shorts price as will be found anywhere.

In regards to the "inspectors" I have been wearing a kilt daily for more then a year and no longer bend for anything... ever. I now squat with one hand down in front to gather whatever I'm picking up as well as controle any apron mishaps. I know its no fun for the inspectors but I still have my job and thats what really matters.
