    Workshop with Josh Grace

Josh is one of our top athletes here in Nor Cal, and he's a natural coach. Thing is, he's really outstanding at the hammer, so I approached Josh at the last Games about doing a workshop with our group.

Attendance kind of sucked, but on the flip side I got a lot of attention, which was extremely helpful. We threw for about 4 hours, then retired to the pub for beers and burger...a great afternoon!

So now I need to think about

Stone, Braemar throw: weight transfer, getting weight on the back leg and transferring it to the front leg...driving up as well as rotating the hips, keeping the upper body passive...Mike Macellari's "flicking towel thing"...throwing right through my head and slamming the HIP before the upper body.

Hammer: Look up, look straight up in the sky to force myself to lay out. I'm not cranked back NEARLY as much as I thought I was. I need to drive the knees forward, and really get some hip action going so I can increase the radius of the swing....

LWFD: quit casting so high, cast more in a circle, bend those knees and stay low, quick feet replacement during the first turn....hit the power position at the end of the first turn, and drive, low, across the trig, to then drive up and into the opened position at the front of the trig. Quit jumping around!!

Glad to see that you got some great advice! Many of your previous habits are the same as I had, and am still working on. Keep it up!
