Year's stats--just a place to BEGIN training this year

Here's a breakdown of what I've been able to do my first year. Keep in mind, I'm still in knee re-hab, am 43 years old and only 185 lbs ;-)

This is where I start training this off season and see what I can do with these stats:

    Open Stone: 31.4
    Braemar: 22.9
56# WFD 24.4 -Still can't do spins because of the knee re-hab
    28# WFD 41.4 -See above
56# WOB 9.0 (can go 11--but form keeps me from going OVER bar)
    42# WOB 12.0 (There's a 14 in there--see above)
22# Hammer 41.3--seem to fall apart in competition--practice is better
    16# Hammer 59.10--see above
    Sheaf 14.0
Caber got better as year went on -cleaner picks and a few 12's

    Goals:

My sheaf stinks--all because of lack of practice and form--plenty of height--lousy technique, flys over right shoulder to back corner of standard.

Caber--A LOT more confidence thanks to great coaching. I can pick a 17' 110# now..just need more practice.

Stones/WFD--I can horse them out there--need my knee to get better so foot work is where it should be.

WOB--Need to clean up technique so I'm not throwing straight up--need that arch back to clear bar at bigger heights.

SO there it is--any hints are greatly appreciated. I'm using these as starting points to train during the fall/winter--hopefully I can make some technique and form improvements.

    This all makes sense.

I'm pleased that I finished 2008 in the top 20 Masters 50-54 in North America, but I dfinitely have some goals for next year. I want to see 45 feet in the LWFD, and see 30+ in the open stone and HWFD..

    and 14 in the WOB!

    .........then I can retire!

Quite trying to throw it behind you, just worry about throwing it *UP*. It'll go backwards on it's own. You're also probably turning to look at where the bag goes too. Don't worry about, the crowd will let you know when you've cleared the bar.

The motion should be a deep swing from right to left, then on the way up the swing goes more into a straight up shrug motion with lots of explosion. Then STOP the fork with your arm a bit more than horizontal.
