Tartan Day Parade meet in NYC

Okay, youse guys, it's time to start thinking about a pre-parade meet for Tartan Day.

I propose meeting for lunch at Playwright's Tavern by Times Square beforehand, as we have done for the past two years. If interested, give a shout here so that I can start making numbers to reserve a table.

Great to hear, Keith. Just let me know how many you are talking when you can.

Oh, and "youse" is NYC speak, it just happened to migrate out to the 'burbs when people fled the city.

    Hey Everybody...

I really want to attend the Tartan Day Parade and other events but have a big reluctance to attend. I enjoy wearing my kilt. I know I can even though I am not Scottish. Here is my but...

I am more of a casual kind of kilt wearer. I don't want to wear the hose or other items. LOL I just want the kilt dressed down with boots and I don't want to be insulted OR offend anyone for my dressed down attitude.

What's the opinion? Skip the festivities because everyone is dressed up?

Also read on another thread (happened to be the Alice movie thread) how people are outraged at the Hot Topic kilts. So there...see what I mean? Why not let the young people start with something non-traditional? When they get older and have the acceptance of their peers they can transition with the budget to get something more traditional.

I on the other hand...just like wearing the kilt with boots in an informal way...

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Brian,

I really don't see an issue about that. We are an open group. In fact, if you look at the pics from last year's gathering, there was a pretty eclectic assortment of kilts.

I'm in now way Scottish either, and just enjoy being kilted, though it does have a Celtic connection for me too.
