Rampant Lion Picnic & BBQ
Type: Party - Barbecue
Date: Saturday, April 24, 2010
Time: 10:00am - 10:00pm
Location: Fielder Park
Street: 1100 S Fielder RD
This event now in its 8th year seems to get only bigger and better. If you or someone you know celebrates and is part of either the Scottish, Irish or Seven Nations Celtic Culture, you are cordially invited to participate in this event. This year marks the end for one of the original coordinators for this event ~ Royce Perry. Please come out on this date and celebrate with us the life of this tall lad who gave his heart and soul to the progression and promotion of the the Scottish and Celtic cultures he was so intertwined with.
Here is some additional info on what to bring and how to take part:
Please bring any type of meat or side dish; enough to feed your entire family and throw in a couple of extra helpings. We will cook the raw products (meat and veggies) right out in the park. For those lads or lassies that would like to help with the cooking, please feel free to jump in and flip hamburgers, steaks, chicken, pork or you name it on the grills! Help is welcomed and appreciated. All food items are shared among the group.
For those that would like to play an instrument (especially Bagpipes!), sing or provide some entertainment for others, have lunch on us!
You will probably want to bring Camp Chairs, Ice Chests and Beverages of your choice. Alcohol consumption is permitted. *Please partake responsibly when consuming these beverages.*
Lads are encouraged to wear your kilt! Show your clan pride!
A small money donation is requested but NOT required to partake in this event! Please come and enjoy a day with your fellow Celts!

Sorry folks,
I cut and pasted and then edited this announcement from the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games Facebook site. I now notice that it doesn't mention that the event is in the DFW area; Arlington, TX specifically.

Great! My son has a soccer game in the morning, but I hope we'll get there around noon or so since his game is also in Arlington.

Bump! Is anyone other than CajunCelt and I attending? People come and go all day long, so don't feel that you have to stay the whole time. It's a great chance to meet others in the local kilt community. Wolfhawk came last year and had a great time hanging out by the BBQ pits sampling wares and whiskys. I hope to see some more Xmarkers there!

Dean,
Must've missed ya. I showed up around 3:00. Can't say they were the friendliest lot. No one had anything to do with us. My wife (the friendly one of us) kept saying if it weren't for a few kilts, she would swear we were in the wrong place. We stayed for an hour or so and took off. I realize with Royce's passing, that was probably the contributing factor. My condolences to all. I will pass on this though in the future.

Sorry about that. I was under the weather and didn't make it after all. I can tell you that folks on the TSF forum spoke highly of the "mystery piper's" playing and wondered where he disappeared to.

I apologize Dean. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't posted this. I received messages from alot of the people there. I didn't realize the positive opinions, but do now. It was just weird after piping then hanging around for an hour that no one even said hello. I know why now and will pipe for those guys anytime.

No problems. I wish I had been there to help break the ice. Are you going to be hanging around at the Scottish Festival in Arlington? Maybe we can organize an Xmarks meet up there.
