Restaurants in the Tyson Corner, VA area
Catherine and I will be taking a different route on our way back to Canada. The way we're going will allow a side trip to Washington D.C. so that we can tour the Smithsonian. As an artist it is a museum I've always wanted to see and never have had the opportunity.
Because Catherine has food allergies we need to plan where we eat ahead of time and we're open to any suggestions for restaurants that would work. We can stick with the old standby's but we are interested in trying something new.
Catherine is allergic primarily to nuts. Incidentally we'll be in the area on Saturday, May 21st. We're going to be staying at the Embassy Suites.

No clue about Tyson's Corner - pretty suburban, lots of choices.
Would recommend that since you're in D.C. head over to historic Alexandria to check out the Scottish shop and eat at one of the seafood restaurants there - succulent dining....

Regrettably, we're only going to have one day there. We have to get back home on Sunday as I have work on Monday.

I recommend Road Food for the answer to questions like this.

If you are traveling north on I-81 toward I-66 (East) to Tysons, you will be going right past my house... pop in for a cuppa, if time permits?

Alexandria is closer to D.C. than Tyson's Corner...??

I have no idea if Alexandria is closer or further away. Catherine made the hotel arrangements since she has worked in hotel hospitality. We're going to be at the Scottish Tartan Museum in Franklin, NC. That's enough tartan shop for me as I am getting a pair of diced hose from Matt for my birthday.
The appeal of Tyson's Corner is that the hotel has a shuttle to the Metro Station.

Hey Glenn!
I'd offer to host you while you're here (I'm only about 20 min from Tyson's Corner) but I'll be in Hawaii that weekend.
Lots of options in the Tyson's Corner area, both in the two large Malls, several shopping centers, and elsewhere. If you don't anything you like, take Rt 123 South into Vienna - again lots of choices.
If you have a preferred type of food (or chain restaurant) ask and I'll see what is available. Plenty of "healthy" food options as well.

Thanks Sir William, too bad you'll be away we had a great time when you were in Toronto, it would be nice to get together again. We are looking at going to The Cheesecake Factory, also there is a restaurant in our hotel, though we are still looking for options.

It would have been nice to get together again and show you some Virginia hospitality in return for your Canadian hospitiality.
You might also consider Clyde's. They have a nice menu and the food is always good.
If you like seafood, Legal Seafood or McCormick & Schmick's are excellent choices, though they can be a slightly more expensive compared to Clydes or the Cheesecake Factory (all depends on what you order).
