Vancouver and Victoria
Now that we are into 2011, I need to firm up on my itinerary for my next visit to Vancouver island. God willing, in just nine weeks from now I should be on my flight across the pond, arriving in Vancouver early evening Saturday 5th March. As yet I am undecided whether to stay overnight in Vancouver or take a connecting flight to Victoria on the Saturday evening.
As the main purpose of my trip is to visit my relatives, my itinerary for the two weeks needs to include Parksville, where I will be based, also Courtenay, Port Alberni, Campbell River and Sooke but I would anticipate travelling by train from Parksville to Victoria on either Friday or Saturday 18th or 19th March and spending my last night or two in Victoria before boarding the ferry for Vancouver on Sunday 20th in time to catch an overnight flight home. Anyone up for a kilt night?

Let me know when a kilt night is planned, and I'll see if we can drive up for it.

I generally take a week off work some time in March, but I won't know for a couple of weeks if I got it. Too bad you're not travelling in mid-May--you would get a chance to see the Downtown Historic Railway* in operation.

EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

I'd be interested in a Vancouver gathering. With sufficient notice I can arrange nearly any night.
