For you folks in or near Toronto looking for a formal 3 button Blackwatch Tartan waistcoat at a low cost ($25-$30). The Public Butter, a vintage clothing reseller at 1290 Queen St West, Toronto ( Queen & Dufferin St.) has two or three, they appear to be wool and looked as though they may have been military mess dress surplus and are the backless style. I didn't get a chance to really go over them but they looked quite reasonable for the price. One also had a matching pre-tied tartan bow tie with them.
