Further Kilt nights in England
Hi folks. Are there any due Kilt Nights in England. I love my kilt and want an excuse to wear it again. I based in North West England but I travel around the country. Just came back from Edinburgh and didn't feel out of place wearing my kilt. It felt great.

If you're around north London at the end of November there's a ceilidh in Harrow.

Re: Further Kilt nights in England
Hi manckilt,
Firstly, welcome to XMarks.
We have had kilt nights in the past, but in the end it comes down to cost. If I have to drive a couple of hours to a venue I won't be able to drink unless I am staying over the night. So the quick meet-up and drink becomes a major expense.
That is not to say that an event should not be arranged - if someone gets the ball rolling, then we can all discuss till we come to a consensus.
Regards
Chas

Re: Further Kilt nights in England
Not aware of any kilt nights, but if you are ever in Derbyshire area feel free to bring your kilt and join me for a bevy somewhere local. I often wear my kilt just to go out, doesn't have to be anything special.
And... A warm Scottish welcome from middle England.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Seems to be a lack of UK kilt nights, perhaps people might be interested in a couple of annual get togethers, say one in Edinburgh and one central England ? Anyone any toughts/ideas ?

There's usually a good gathering of xmarkers at the Harpenden Highland Gathering on the second Sunday of July.

Re: Further Kilt nights in England
Hi Adrian,
I am all for meet-ups. The problem is the cost. If I have to drive anywhere, I would have to spend the night or not drink. Not drinking is OK, but I wouldn't fancy a 2 - 3 hour drive back home again in the wee small hours. I think the same can be said for all of us.
Ideally, what we need is an event to make it worthwhile everybody travelling. We do have a get-together every year at Harpenden and this year at Ashbourne, and have met at Preston and Rumney (Cardiff) in the past.
What we need is someone like you to get the ball rolling and organise something and then we can all jump in.
Regards
Chas

I've been thinking about going to Robertson's Burns night at Ferintosh which would be a good opportunity for a meet-up.

You don't need an excuse to wear it just put your trousers (pants) back in the wardrobe and get out your kilt out
