Jacket, Scarf, Hat and gloves if its cold enough. Its really up to you Ive been wearing a long coat the last few weeks beacuse its been knee deep snow here but I havent had an occasion to wear my kilt jacket recently.

Your location makes me wonder if you are using the term "freezing" literally.
I am finding that under layers (t-shirt beneath and waistcoat over my shirt) go a long way to keeping me comfortable as our thermometer flirts with actual freezing temps. A wool hat and gloves and I'm pretty cozy.

Inverness Cape, Barbour Jacket, any normal jacket/coat that you use to keep warm...

An Inverness Cape is ideal but a duffel coat or naval P coat also work well. I have a wool clergy cloak that is fine if it's a posh do. Keep warm!

The last week in my area the morning temperatures were in the 20* F range. I wore my Stillwater tank with a polo shirt under my Woollie Pullie and was actually quite comfortable with it. If we had snow, I would have been a bit amiss with wearing just hose and wingtips.

I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

Um, his location is Wylie, TX, which is up around Dallas. It does get very cold there in winter. Even down here in South Texas, it was 22 degrees F at my house this morning. So yeah... "freezing", literally.

I'm heading to The Nutcracker later in the month and you-betcha I am going kilted (wife is now convinced that I am nuts but my daughter is all for it). I will wear the nice big black wool overcoat that I picked up a couple of years ago. I am surprised at just how warm and rainproof this sucker is. I'm a big proponent of the down coat but getting into kilts has reminded me of the incredible power of wool.
