St. Andrews Society members and guests enjoyed the parade from the front of our brownstone building in downtown Albany Saturday. A blustery day (45F/7C, windy, partly sunny, mostly cloudy), but the streets were packed, open containers plentiful, and the City really turned out for a bit of fun. I continue to mix up my outfit, trying for a highland look on a cool windy day. Only a few others at the Society were kilted, and a few spectators, but mostly the pipe and drum bands. They keep the kilt industry going, I assume! Happy St. Patty's Day all! Frank 1.jpg

Wow... we were near 90 degrees yesterday, and you have snow?! Crazy weather! BTW "Paddy" is short for Patrick, "Patty" is short for Patricia. "Pat" works for either, though I've heard "Pad" for Patrick too. Maybe it's because the Irish spelling uses d rather than t (Padraig). Sorry for sounding pedantic, but it's one of those misspellings that's becoming more and more popular (in the USA). BTW a kilt-related trivia thing: one of the very few surviving 79th New York (Cameron Highlanders) uniforms is (or was) on display at the National Guard museum in Albany (now at Saratoga Springs?). It's a postwar (post-1865) uniform, having numerous differences with the prewar and wartime uniform, but nevertheless it's shown in many books on Civil War uniforms.

Looking good there! We were fortunate to have a nice day yesterday for our parade here locally... Today it's snowing again. Ugg

No kiddin. We do not have forecasts for anything soon 50 or above. It's been a long, cold and crummy winter here! Frank
Supposed to be close to 75 here tomorrow was 70 today.
