    American PV Suppliers

Does anyone have any good places to buy PV Tartans or other material types in the US? I would like to stat making some other kilts and am having a hard time finding a good supply of material.

    Thanks,

Frankly, from the discussions on this topic that I remember, the only PV that's worth using is the Marton Mills stuff and you'd have to buy it directly from them or through one of the North American kiltmakers who offers the service.

Other PV has popped up once and a while but is usually considered too lightweight to be of any use.

I may be wrong but did Fraser And Kirkbright do some PV at one time or another? They're in Canada, though...not the USA proper.

Thanks for the advice. I have been looking through all the other forum threads and can not find any suppliers listed for wool or other materials as well. Do you have a recommendation to use newbie Kilt Makers? I am looking for some cheaper common tartans that I can use for learning before moving into the $40+/yard range.

    Thanks,

Not sure how much they retail the fabric, but one of my friends got some from J. Higgins in Lenexa, KS that his wife made his kilt out of. Their website is jhiggins.net.

They made both my good wool kilts, and are super to deal with.

You should get a better deal ordering PV directly from Marton mills. They sell to the general public, take payment by credit card and I've never been hit with tariffs on incoming packages as they use parcel-force which is delivered stateside by the USPS.

I don't really know of any resellers stateside that offer PV tartans.

You can also check out http://www.esewingfabric.com/Tartan-...c-Suiting.html

This place sells some of F and K's Canadian tartans in PV. I made a maple leaf kilt out of the material. It's thinner and pills after a time and the price really isn't significantly better than ordering from Marton Mills and paying shipping...

Ended up using this place. Good prices, and great/fast shipping:

You probably should have checked my link it's the same tartan from the same mill for about 30% less.

Most Kiltmakers will sell fabric as yardage. Well, at least I do.

The Tartan you found could also have been purchased direct from the weaver, Fraser & Kirkbright. Gordon is a member here but hasn't been on the site for a while due to moving his household goods.

    I wear the kilt because:

Thanks for the link and the advise. The problem was that site was going to take
a month to get the material to me. I have a scottish event the beginning of June, so that would not work. The other site sent it out immediatly and UPS is delivering it tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Daniel Wier

Ok I see, you needed the rush and you paid more so it was calculated. No problem, just trying to be helpful.
