    Belt hook supplier

    Greetings from the Allgäu!

I'm presently in search of either a supplier who carries the belt 'hook' (odd name, - the buckle has the hook) or is there an actual name for the bleeding part? Trying a google search brings me nothing.

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Cheers!

A few different things come to my mind and I am not sure if either of those are what you are talking about.

Are you talking about a buckle or loop for this type of belt buckle:

    https://www.usakilts.com/highland-sw...lt-buckle.html
If you are looking for the loop part then I would check a hardware store or perhaps you could make one with a thick wire, perhaps 12 or 9 gauge, and some pliers. You could also get a cheep kilt belt off amazon or ebay and use the metal loop on a better quality belt.

I also thought about a loop that connects to a belt for holding things, yet that is not normally from the buckle. For this I just use scrap leather and a D ring. It's easy to make and works great for holding things.

If these are not not what you are looking for then a picture would help. A rough sketch should be enough to see help identify the part and help find a supplier.

No, I'm seeking the part opposite the buckle. I'd call it perhaps a wee catch, where the buckle 'hook' attaches to.

I'm getting orders for belts and sporrans (not sure why) actually, as I normally make classic leather items. But it seems to have started this year and no complaints.

But I need a supplier. Making them meself is a non-starter.

But the link is appreciated nonetheless.

    Cheers

I think in this instance, it's spelled "bail"...

Apparently, you're not the first on the forum to ask the question!

Read over the thread and the author felt it was a 'bail'. No one knows. Odd that! I'll find a supplier eventually. Someone makes them.

    Cheers!

How many do you need. In my shop each buckle has one in the box. And each belt has one. So I have a few extra in a drawer.
