    cantle

I've got brass sheet 1/16 of an inch thick, I will cut to a style then braze it together for a cantle. Then find an engraver to engrave my home made cantle for my long hair sporran.

what style of cantle are you looking for? There are two primary types-

The contemporary "piper's" or hair sporran cantles, which are basically just decorative plates bolted through the thickness of the sporran, or
the much older styled hinged brass or silver cantle with a spring latch (think coin purse, only much larger).

If you're planning to build a hair sporran of horsehair your best bet is the first style. If it's your FIRST sporran build the first style will also be orders of magnitude easier.
The 'plate' style cantles are also, generally speaking, much less expensive than the hinged type.

You can order them from ClanArt in the UK HERE. I believe they also have an etsy storefront for retail purchases as well.
