Diy #3
MacTavish Modern Strathmore lightweight. I pinned up a half-dozen different test pleatings after looking at many more, including box, military box and tiny 1/2" knife pleats. I ended up going with double-sett knife pleats of about 1 1/2 inches. The red under-flash was the top criterion. It uses about 6 yards of the 4 double-wide meters I had available, so I get a fly plaid in the bargain.

Nice looking tartan and your kilt looks great! And a fly plaid too!

Nice. Looking forward to watching you create the kilt.

Nice work! I really like the pleating that you did with the red under-flash.

Broken record time, but rest assured it's sincere: Gaga over the tartan, very impressed with your bright reveal. Don't know nuthin' bout making kilts, but I know what I like!

Thanks to all for the encouragement. Still working at the seemingly (no pun - don't go there) endless details that follow pleating. I will post pics when it's done.

I finished it last night!

Had several challenges, most notably a renegade pleat (over the join seam) that needed severe scolding before deciding to behave. Learned a lot and still learning. Next up: Xmarks PV. Still deciding between box and knife pleats.
