DIY Full Mask Fox Sporran
So I found a fox wrap in a local thrift store and thought it would be a fun DIY project to convert my old DND sporran into a full mask sporran. I've had some success but I'm wondering the following.
1) What is the best method to affix the pelt to the leather. The spray adhesive I used didn't really do the trick and I don't have leather working tools to sew it on. It's wearable, but I don't think it will hold in the long term. I could do trial and error with various other glues, but I thought I'd ask the rabble.
2) These eyes are cheap and creepy looking. I'm considering going sans eyes to give it a look like the eyes are closed. Does anyone have an inexpensive source on better looking eyes that would fit? I've seen pairs for like $20 bucks locally but they aren't even ideal and I'm really trying to avoid cost creep.
Let me know your thoughts!

I can't help with the glue I think it would look fine without the eyes -- perhaps even better.

I don't have the equipment to sew easily on leather and have done very well with glue. Unfortunately, I just threw away the tube I used on my fox sporran and don't remember the name. It was purchased at a crafts shop such as Hobby Lobby or Michaels from their leather working section. I use a number of small clamps to secure the edges.

Thanks to both of you.
Colin, I agree, it might look better without the eyes. The fur is quite nice.

Tandy Leather has barge cement specifically for that purpose. Rough the surface of your old sporran and the new surface, apply the cement to both surfaces, allow them to become tacky and then glue in place. Due it in manageable sections and work in a well-ventilated environment. Follow the instructions on drying time. This is one job where "The bigger the glob, the better the job" is NOT a truism.
As for the eyes, try contacting a taxidermy shop and having them re-do the eyes on that piece, because they are, indeed, really faux looking and actually kinda creepy. LOL.

Why not remove the eyes and insert a piece of tartan or red felt?

Well done with the fox! You could maybe send an e-mail to Kate Macpherson with your query. She will more than likely answer your questions. All of my full-mask sporrans (my Scottish pine marten shown below) are made by her. There's no doubting the fact that Kate is an expert when it comes to crafting these wee beasties.
