How do I make a half belted plaid?

I now have the fabric but haven't the foggiest idea of how to turn it into a half belted plaid. Can any more enlightened X-Markers help?

How are the edged finished? Hemmed or fringed?

Lay the fabric out on a table or something, and then fold over a 3-4" hem along the long (non-selvedge) side. Sew this hem, as if it were a tartan curtain. Slide your belt through this hem, and buckle it around your middle. Pull the corner of the fabric up over your shoulder and pin it to your jacket. Ta-da!

Do you want the bottom half? (i.e. rustic feillebag?) or the top part as pointed out above?
