Leather for Sporran
Im planning on having a go at making a plain enough leather sporran, nothing too fancy to start with.
Does anyone know of anywhere to get good quality leather in Edinburgh? I'd prefer to get it from somewhere local, but if there's good places anywhere in Scotland or Ireland that people know I'd appreciate those too.

Re: Leather for Sporran
Charity shop leather jackets/purses seem to be the way to go for spare leather.

Re: Leather for Sporran
Thanks, that's what I've used for other wee projects I've done with leather. But I was planning on trying out a bit more leather working for this one.
Maybe trying out a design on the front of the sporran or something. So, I don't really think leather from a jacket would work for this one.

I also get leather from www.walterreginald.com but I think it might be a stretch from where you are. But they have a great bargain bin where you can get pretty much any of their leathers for £1 per sq foot.

Have a look at http://www.hewitonline.com/category_s/88.htm They stock leather for bookbinding and bagpipes. Not cheap but they do have a bargain basement.
