Need Source for Knife Parts
Any good online stores out there that sell knife/dirk pommels and hilts? I want to try my hand at making a dirk and a sgian dubh...all these members who are posting pics of their amazing, home-made knives are getting me inspired. Any help getting pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.

texasknife.com. they have pommels and the like, though you'll probably have to shape the handle yourself. but that's half the fun, right?

Atlanta cutlery is one well known online source in the USA, track of the Wolf is another. Alloneword dot com should work for both.
You might check your local yellow pages for a local knife shop. Oddly I only have one up here, I expected dozens. I started out patronizing my local shop for the cheapest reasonable sized blade I could buy that day and met a good resource who is usually happy to see me in his store.
For sgian blades, I'll be ordering from our very own Rab Gordon shortly. I forget his website name, but if you google "sgian blade blank" his site will be on page one of your search results. His swedish made damascus blanks are beautiful but out of my price range. I'll be ordering up a couple of the Mumbai damascus steel blades here directly.
You might also look for a Finnish website. I haven't ordered from them before, but I am likely too. www dot brisla dot fi I think. No actual/"real" sgian blades, but lots of blades forged by a lot of different artisans and companies. I have been very happy with my laminated Scandinavian blades, they stay sharp well, don't rust easily, and sharpen fairly easily.
I have noticed that once a knife maker gets some expeerience, they tend to start making stuff just from scratch.
Sorry, all of the above were blade blank sources. Atlanta cutlery and track of the wolf both have some guards and pommels.

Atlanta Cutlery ( http://www.atlantacutlery.com/p-951-...irk-blade.aspx ) is a decent place for parts. And if you come to the Stone Mountain Highland Games, I can take you over there in person since they are located about 3 miles from my house in Conyers!
(BTW, I don't have any ties to them, so I'm not trying to profit from the reference.)

I use riogrande for most of the base metal stock and they have always been pretty good about things. If you are looking for some neat parts or kits you could try a place called crazy crow traders. They offer some interesting stuff there too. Are you looking for premade blades or are you going to try to make one? I could offer you some info on making one out of stuff you can find around.

Thanks for all the information guys. I'm primarily looking for the butt cap piece or pommel and the hilt piece that is between the blade and the handle. I'm looking to secure the blade to an oak table leg without cutting the leg in half and I'm trying to figure out what hardware I'd need to do this.
