Sporran design question
First, forgive me if this is not the most appropriate forum for this question (and Mods, please feel free to move the thread if you feel it should be).
In a few months, I'll be a Groomsman in a wedding party for my brother-in-law.
The dress is Highland Formal (Black tie, Prince Charlie, etc), but I'm curious for opinions on my plan for sporran.
I will be making a new sporran for myself for this event. I'm not a big fan of tassels in general, and have never included any on previous sporrans I've built (all of which would be categorized as either day wear or rustic), but I figured it'd be nice to make something a little more formal-looking this time.
I have this skunk pelt which I've been wanting to turn into a sporran for a long time, but I was thinking of using a trio of Ermine tails for (or in place of) tassels.
So, tell me; is this a ridiculous faux-pas, or am I creative genius?
(or, like my wife, you are free to just roll your eyes and say nothing)

A formal or dress sporran will normally use fur or hair and, unless it is full mask, will have a silver cantle. Ermine tails will be fine, some sporrans do use them for tassels but you will also need silver bells or balls.

Thanks; I had been thinking simply using silver chains for the ermine tails, but omitting any balls or bells.
Still, I could see the balls perhaps at the tops of the tails, where the chains attach. Is that what you were referring to?

Hello Tenmiles, welcome from Inverness-shire.
I wonder if you would mind telling me at what time of day the wedding service is to be? I promise you this is not a trick question, but I would be very interested to know the answer.

Hello Jock!
I confess that I don't know the precise time yet (the wedding is in August, so some details are still forthcoming).
What I have been told is that we groomsmen will remain in our formal attire until the end of the reception, which is expected to be around 22:00.
I am thinking, then, that the wedding ceremony is likely to take place in late afternoon or just before dusk. It will be an outdoors event.

Ermine tails are perfectly fine! I've used them on one of my goat-hair dress sporrans

Yes, Tenmiles, bells or balls will hide the joins between the chains and the Ermine tails.

Just make sure you don't upstage the groom.
