What sporran to build next
So I recently had my leather working tools and some leather that I had in stock shipped. My next question is what do I make next. I have a rob roy style that I made, and several other in between. I think my next course will making a dress sporran.
I have about 4 sq feet of black cow hide, about 3.5 oz. I also have some black cow in 9 oz. I am thinking a hunting sporran with lots of rivet bling. Maybe make it convertable to accept a cantle when I want to dress it up!
Any ideas or things that you would like to see in a custom sporran?

I agree with your thinking of a hunting sporran and making it to be able to accept a cantle is an excellent idea. I have seen supposedly hunting style sporrans with tassles like those you see on formal sporrans. I would urge you to stay away from that sort of innovation and stay with the riveted down flaps.
I think you could make the style your own by creating a design on the targe section that is YOU
I must say that I envy your ability to carry out your projects and all the best for this endeavour

Thanks for the input. I am not thinking that I will go with tassels anyway, though it would be much easier than the riveted down leather flaps.
Any more ideas? What are the usual dimensions for a typical dress sporran?
