X-kilts and getting ahead of myself

I'm going to attempt my first xkilt this weekend. But, as I'm won't to do, I get excited about things and think further ahead than I'm ready to handle.

If all goes well, I want to try a UK "Mocker" style kilt after that. My question is, does anyone have any ideas wear I can find info on how to add internal pockets and a "cheek" pocket?

Thanks in advance and wish me luck,
    -Ed

I do recall some photos of a "cheek pocket" in progress but can't give you a clue how to search for them. IIRC the approach was similar to a bound buttonhole, with the "binding" big enough to form the body of the pocket. There's a lot of layers of fabric at this point so make sure your machine can handle it happily, with accuracy.

As for what you call "internal" pockets, are you thinking of the slash-cut pockets that Freedom Kilts uses, or a simple patch pocket on the inner apron?

Yes, I do mean slash-pocket. Sorry, I'm new to this whole thing. Took home-ec in high school but that was over a decade ago.

Re: X-kilts and getting ahead of myself

Don't have high expectations on your first one. If it comes out wearable then that is great. If if comes out less than stellar, try to pinpoint your mistakes and learn from them. Don't beat yourself up over it either. Mistakes are part of learning. No one can make just one. Each one will be better than the previous one. You can do it. Best of luck.
