Crow research findings
More than 200 dead crows were found near Topeka and there was concern that they might have died from avian flu. An avian pathologist examined the remains and concluded that the problem was definitely NOT avian flu, to everyone's relief.
However, he determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car.
The State then hired an ornithological behaviorist to determine the reasons for disproportionate percentages of truck versus car kill.
The cause was determined in short order. When crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger.
The expert's conclusion was that all the look-out crows could say "Cah," but none could say "Truck."

Yuck, Yuck, Yuck, no I really mean Yuck, can you imagine all the CARnage on the road. Most would just "Keep On Truckin" but someone has to clean up, after all haven't we all had to "eat crow" at least once. I also heard there were twice as many "Blackfeet" as "Crow" on the highway too.
