Talking A funny (PG13) birthday gift

A friend that was with us at the renfaire last weekend found this at one of the vendors there...

It's an embroidered handkerchief, I thought it was really great, since I had to say that to a couple of mundanes that weekend!

Are there pleats depicted on the front of the kilt on the handkerchief? It looks like it's that, a narrow apron, or a jagged bottom edge.

What is that? Is it a pair of flashes?

A Message from the Forum Moderators

xmarksthescot.com is an international and family friendly forum.

We are here to promote kilts (both modern and traditional) and to provide a friendly and safe place where anyone around the globe can come seeking to learn or share about kilts and highland attire. As I read and post on XMTS I often have my young children standing next to me reading along.

I am not only a proud member of the Forum Moderators but I am the Captain of the Mod Squad. My job here on this forum is to uphold our rules.

I like Mark (Zardoz) and I like his posts. They more often than not make me laugh and think "this guy has too much fun".

Did I laugh when I looked at his embroidered handkerchief and its "It's a Kilt dumbass" comment?

    Yes

But then I had to decide if this was family friendly or not. Mark himself noted this post was PG-13.

I put it to the rest of our forum moderators and we all agreed that "dumbass" isn't appropriate for a family friendly forum. For that matter neither is the term "donkey's dangler" which appears in another thread's title.

The fact is that there will sometimes be amusing things we can't share here because they aren't appropriate for younger or more gentle readers. Matt Newsome the Director of the Scottish Tartans Museum links one and only one kilt forum on the STM's website and that is XMTS. He feels that we are a valuable resource and a good community that he recommends to all.

Sometimes we need to show some restraint and save somethings for our friends my PM, especially with humor. Humor is something where it becomes very easy to slip over "the line" between family friendly and adult.

Maybe this isn't a perfect system, but nothing in life is perfect.

However XMTS is pretty good and it is our hope that we are inspiring the next generation of kilties here.

    So why this lengthy explanation?

One of the things Steve Ashton stressed when he took over from Hank Hannah is that he wanted there to be more transparency and clarity in the actions of the forum Moderators to our members.

With the full support of the forum moderators I am closing this thread but not pulling it from our forum. Hopefully it will serve to help everyone better understand "the line".

    Cheers

    Jamie
