Not Running
Just so everybody knows; if I am nominated, I will not accept, and if elected I will decline. My wife doesn't want us to move to Rome, even if the house is really fancy. They'll just have to find somebody else for Pope.

Father Bill: My ecclesiastical question is, "Are you blowing white smoke or black smoke?"
John (definitely not the apostle)
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

What about Skype? Or job-share. Or part time.
Just how bad would that commute be?

I must be missing something here. From what I have read over the past year, I think you'd make an excellent pope (I must add the disclaimer that I am not Catholic). But I have always assumed that you were not of the Roman ilk, but rather Anglican, Episcopalian or some other such genre. Does that not disqualify you from consideration, qualifications and suitability quite aside?

Only a Catholic man can be elected Pope, which knocks me out of the running, too. He doesn't have to be a cardinal, or even a bishop, although the last several Popes (I don't know exactly how many) have been cardinals.
I think a cassock made from the St. Ninian's tartan would be quite smashing.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

This is skating on thin Rule #5 ice but because it's meant to be humourous has been moved to Craig's Corner.
