*For the record, I am not "The man" when it comes to highland dress. I learned everything I know from Xmarks. This is just a poem.
I heard someone say
I’m the man
I ‘get’ highland dress
I have my days
Do what I can
Some days, I’m a mess
When I wear the kilt
I take pride
In detailing my look
A wardrobe I’ve built
On the side
I dress by the book
Jackets of many styles
A couple conversions
I think they look good on me
Choices compiled
Kilt Kulture immersion
Tweed as far as the eye can see
XMarks is the place
There is much to learn
It’s a new kiltie’s tutorial
But they’ll tell you to your face
That soon you’ll feel the burn
And start dressing with a sense sartorial
If you never cared
Never gave it a thought
Just bought what the mannequins were wearing
Then it’s time you dared
Self – consciousness forgot
Start worrying about hose and kilt paring
Do your research
How will it be worn?
Will you wear the kilt daily?
Will you wear it to church?
Trousers forsworn?
Wear it to a Saturday cèilidh?
I’ve said my piece
No more to say
But it cannot be overstated
The pure relief
Of spending my days
In a garment unbifurcated
