    2 threadcounts = 1 tartan ?

I do apologize if I have already asked this, but if so, then I have completely forgotten the answer –

If a tartan has two pivot points then it would be able to be rendered correctly from two different threadcounts. For example, the XMTS tartan can be rendered properly from either:
    • W12 DB64 N6 DB6 N2 DB6 N4 B8 DB2 Y4
    • Y4 DB2 B8 N4 DB6 N2 DB6 N6 DB64 W12

Is one threadcount “preferred” over the other? If so, then by what criteria is one selected?

    Thanks! (again?)

This is the same thread count, but simply in reverse order. It makes no difference.

Academically the convention is to start with the lowest alphabetical colour (using generic names: red, blue, green etc) and the proceed in alphabetical order. In this case, W12 DB64 N6 DB6 N2 DB6 N4 B8 DB2 Y4 is preferable.

I can live with that. As far as these "generic names" are concerned. I assume that G=green, K=black, and W=white, but what if my tartan has a pink stripe, would that be P ?

No, LR (Light Red) = Pink
