    Black weathered

A group to which I belong has started the registration process on a tartan. I want to wear the tartan as a statement of support, but it has a black background. I really don't care for dominantly black tartans (personal preference, no offence to anyone who's tartan is dominantly black), so I was trying to find out what it would look like in a weathered pallet. The colors are similar to Stewart Black. Does anyone know of any images that would help me out?

A good place to get an idea what a given tartan looks like in the various color schemes (modern, ancient, weathered/reproduction/etc.) is the D C Dalgliesh web site at

    http://www.dcdalgliesh.co.uk/

Once there, click on "FABRICS", then "Stock fabrics", then "Traditional", then "All Traditional Fabrics". (Whew! - their old website was much easier to navigate.)

Then, simply browse down looking for tartans with black colors. They have a number of Stewarts, but not the Stewart Black (that I could find).

When you find one of interest, click on it and then click on any "n more palettes" tab that may be present. I think you will see that, in the reproduction palette, black is transformed to gray, blue-gray, brown, dark brown, et. al. depending on the tartan. I have no idea who makes that decision and by what criteria, if any.

    Good luck.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
