Dutch Friendship Tartan-Anyone want in?
Hi All-
After seeing Ron's kilt and after admiring and trying to get ahold of this tartan for almost a year, I was able to get in touch with the owner of the kilt shop this morning to get ready to place an order. If anyone is interested in jumping on board for some material, you are more than welcome. Let me know-I'm probably gonna order this weekend. Cheers, Josh

I forgot-The owner is emailing me pricing which I'll turn around and list here once it arrives. THere will be a sliding scale in price the more people get in on this.

Ron had better enjoy his unique, only Dutch Friendship Tartan Kilt in the United States status while he can. At this rate it will be as popular as the Isle of Skye soon.
Good luck with this venture Josh. I hope you get lots of people on board. It is a fine looking tartan. I'll bet the people at DFT are wondering what's going on?

Funny you mention that-I had her pop over to Ron's post while on the phone with her. She wanted to know if many people viewed this form.......I explained that there are LEGIONS of kilters who wear kilts for more than just special occasions, and fashion tartans are quite popular. I explained the Isle of Skye phenomena and how this tartan really seemed to be setting up to be very popular. She was notably surprised and excited to say the least. As am I-I'm dying to make myself a Box Pleat in this stuff and am not sure if I can wait 5 months!!! Although she didn't say directly, it seemed to me that there was material on hand....Still awaiting response on pricing, but mind you we spoke only about an hour ago, so it may come later, or even tomorrow. Can't WAIT!!!

I wish I could afford it right now. A couple of years ago I discovered a Dutch strain in my ancestry going back to New Amsterdam.

Price will be the decider but I could be interested in 4 yd DW. . . Bob's line is heavily Dutch.
This is a symmetrical tartan, right?

Yes, Its DW. I've got my iPad right next to me while I'm sewing, so I'm notified if an email comes in. Still waiting, although its late now in NL, so probably tomorrow for pricing.

How cool!
Guessing its the same 16 ounce strome from Lochcarron (?) No finer material to sew a kilt from.
Here's a link to the best pic of what the tartan looks like in the sun, and its even more vibrant than this pic

This beautiful tartan is for sure up there with the subtle beauty of the Isle of Skye and the Mapleleaf tartans.

Oh not again!!
I really do have to quit hanging around with you guys!!
If I remember correctly Josh, you are also to blame for that nice Auld Scotland kilt hanging in my closet!!
Assuming this is the same 16oz Lochcarron, and the price and turn around time is not too far out there, you can put me down for 4 yards double width.
Sleeping indoors and eating regularly are way over rated anyway right?
