A friend of my purchased a kilt that had the description as a mystery tartan. I was wondering if anybody can help identifying this.

Looks like MacDonald to me. http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar....aspx?ref=2334

You know, there are actually a number of MacDonald of Clanranald tartans. Liam posted the one that the STR calls "MacDonald of Clanranald #5" , STWR #475. On the other hand, MacDonald of Clanranald STWR #425 seems like a good match.

It is called MacDonald of Clanranald in the Vestiarium Scoticum (1842) but there is a sample labelled as Glengarry in the Highland Society of London Collection (1816).
