    Purdue University Tartan?

Has anyone come across a tartan for Boilermakers? I'm thinking of one that would be mostly black, with a lot of gold and then maybe some brown (for the Wabash River) and some green (for the agricultural aspect of the school) and finally, some brick red (for the predominant color of every building on campus). I suppose I could live with a McCutcheon tartan (if one exists) - lived in that residence hall for 4 years.

I would do a web search for a tartan designer software/suite... I think the Scottish Tartan Authority website has one... if not, it might have been at www.scottishtartans.org. There are ways to get custom woven fabric made for a kilt. I think that Matt can actually do a kilt in a custom weave without having to order a zillion yards. I do not know whether this University has an official tartan, but if not, you could be the person to design it... how cool would that be?

When did you attend Purdue? Not that it's the kind of thing to brag about, but I've lived here in Lafayette all my life.

Lafayette's not that bad. I was there from '94 to '99. I like going back - miss Jake's Garage. Never went to Harry's Chocolate Shop that much though - always too crowded.

Notre Dame has the Irish Guard and a Pipe Band, so why shouldn't the Boilermakers? You could drape the old oaken bucket in it!

One of my friends went to Purdue, so that is why I know of the Old Oaken Bucket, btw.

Jake's? You mean Jake's Roadhouse, on Chauncey?

As for Harry's, if you want a table on a Saturday evening, you have to be up with the roosters and get there before the regulars. They're still promoting the 'Go Ugly Early' philosophy.

That's sort of funny, given that Notre Dame is a french name, and if I recall originally a French university. I have run across all sorts of people who believed the name was Irish-gaelic. Ha ha ha, and of course, wouldn't believe me when I said otherwise, and told them to go ask a French instructor.

I know it's a little off topic, but I had to put that in... for some humour.
BonnieT100: You ride a triumph...don't you? The name would be too coincidental if you didn't! Of couse, I must say... good choice!

Actually, it's very appropriate in the fact that many Irish and Scots Highlanders fled to France to serve in her armies -- "The Wild Geese".

    Cheers,
