Robinson
One of my great-great grandfathers was a Robinson, a medical doctor, and one of the early settlers here in Kansas, back in the Bleeding Kansas days. I don't know if he was a Robinson of Scottish decent, but I'm going to say he was, and claim the "right" to wear the Robinson tartan in his honor. It is to my way of thinking a very simple but attractive sett.

The tartan has a Pendelton connection, but seems to go back further in tartan time, from what I've read, and to have been embraced by Robinsons in search of a family tartan, just like other families adopted ready-made tartans in the past. In searching for a supply of the tartan in stock somewhere. I've come up empty, checking the sources I know to check. Does anyone have any thoughts on where I might find some? I'm not going to the trouble of ordering a bespoke weaving of it, but would spend a bit on it if it's in stock anywhere.

From what I've seen it is special order only, at around GBP70.00 per metre.

The STA classifies this as a US 'Fashion' tartan and on the basis of available evidence that is correct. So far as I know this is a Pendleton sett with no older older connections and probably dates to no earlier than c1950.
