Suggestions for getting a custom tartan woven.
So, I designed a tartan in some colours I really like. (Which happen to be the colours, with a few extras, of the local University who don't want their own tartan; I asked.)
At any rate, I'd like to get either 10-14 yards S/W or 4-8 yards D/W, preferably of acrylic or PV. Most places can only do huge lengths and I found a few places who said what I wanted was too much.
Does anyone know where I could get this length and roughly how much it'd cost?

If you find someone who will weave PV here in the states at about that length please let me know.

Short run weavers
As to PV I don't know, but the only weaver I know that will do short runs of fabric is Dagliesh Mill in Scotland.

DC Dalgleish was the first place I went, but I've had no reply back other than to say 'not sure if we can do that length.' I'll try to contact them again.

Note that Dalgleish no longer is selling direct to non-trade customers. You'll need to place your order through one of their trade customers, such as Scotweb, or here in the US, ourselves. They can do a short length no problem.
The reason I did not reply to this thread sooner is that your OP stated you were looking for PV or acrylic. Dalgleish will do wool or silk. If you want either of those options, more info can be found here:

Technically, MM will do a 15 m sample piece (double width) of PV, but its the same price as the same thing in wool (VERY Pricey).

Matt, I tried contacting them again bu am still waiting for a reply. They were the first place I went and I intended to do it through Scotweb, but do far I've been told I can only do it if I let them make the Kilt or that it's too short. (I thought 4 was their minimum.)
I'd prefer Pv or Acrylic simply because these Kilts are going to be around a lot of pubs and BBQs, but i am not averse to wool or extra cost at all.

Thanks, Rocky. I don't mind the extra cost, I just want to make sure I have something that'll look good AND will be able to handle going through getting food and drinks on it without needing to be constantly dry cleaned or carefully washed in the bath. (Not that I'll be just chucking it in the machine, either.)
If the worst comes to the worst I'll just save up and order a bolt and sell Kilts to people slowly over the next few years.
