What do you guys (squids and jarheads) think of this tartan?

This is one of the many "navy tartans" I ran across when I was thinking of my Navy kilt. I like it, but decided for the Edzell as that seems to be more accepted as the Navy tartan. I actually like that it was designed "for those in peril at sea" and would enjoyed a kilt in this tartan potentially some day. I like that it has purple too--kind of a Joint service tartan, so to speak.
Since there really is NOT an officially recognized Navy tartan, one could wear this as their Navy tartan just as much as anyone else might choose Edzell. That said, I'd bet you would need a custom run of the material to make a kilt.
Edit/note: my Edzell is a sportkilt--which incidentally I do NOT like--and they only offer Edzell. So when I really get my Navy kilt, I may actually still get this one you have here. I'm thinking of a 5-yd semi-trad from Rocky. I just need to save my pennies.

Got an Edzell on the way and one day to have a Sea Bee one. Not gotten around to subs yet (though been is every other community) so Polaris really isn't me. Did 5 years active at sea (and a few Reserve ATs) so this has some appeal.

Yeah, I did a few years (read 4) with the bubbleheads...I like Polaris, but prefer edzell. If I were to have 2 woo kilts for navy, it'd be Edzell and this one. I've been thinking a lot about designing another "navy" kilt. I'm in a joint assignment right now, so I've even considered a Joint Service Tartan....but most likely, it would never get utilized. I'm sure I could get it approved and pay to have it registered, but...

Personally, I am not a fan of the purple stripes. I get the symbolism, just never been a fan of the color.
I have always loved the Edzell, and that is what I will be getting. but since you have an Edzell on the way, then I say if you like it, then it is perfect.
It still surprises me that the all the other services have an officially recognized Tartan, but not the Navy.

I like the tartan, but the Edzel and Beartrap are ahead of it in line. I really wish someone would make a tartan for Naval Aviation. Us airdales are always forgotten.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

I clicked on the link, and really like the one "for those in peril on the sea", but then noted it's Navy, not sailors. Do not misunderstand, if you served in any branch you have my deepest appreciation, but I would love to see one I could
wear for my father. Too young for the Navy, he shipped out with the Merchant Marine at seventeen, doing thankless work with no hope of escape in an emergency. This branch took the highest percentage of casualties, knowing they were sitting ducks with no way to get the other guy, and any second might mean a torpedo. Daddy talked about sailing oilers in the South Seas so
overloaded the catwalks were awash. Back home, no recognition, no benefits.
Too late for most they finally got Veteran status, and Daddy has a service
headstone, but he's shut out of "for those in peril on the sea". If anyone knows of an appropriate tartan, I'd be grateful.
