I thought this might be of interest to any of the Rabble with connections to Clan MacThomas. I thought I might have a connection as my 13x Great Grandmother was a Thamsone, born in Fife, but I now think she probably origionated in the Borders. The Thomsons from the borders are an interesting read. Looks like they were Reivers. Anyway, back to the MacThomas. I knew of this location for many years as I passed it often. Recently I have been travelling the A93 again and thought I should stop to take some pictures for the the Rabble. The sun shone yesterday so I decided to take the A93 on my way to Huntly to grab some pictures.Looks like i have lost the ability to add pictures. I'll try later. Hmmm, still cant do it and I cant even put in a new paragraph. sorry folks you will need to wait for the pictures till I can sort this out.

Looking forward to your pix as my mil was a McComb.
I can up load the longhand way - writting in the code. Hope you can all read the text in the picture, it gives the story of the clan and the lands. [img][img]

Sorry to put the picutes in in separate posts, but as I dont have the "insert" icon any longer I need to write [img] etc and then edit it all to display the pictures, a single post was getting very messy.[img][img]
Closeup of the gate plaques [img][img]Still having problems with the formatting of text, paragraphs, position, etc
I took this once through the gate looking east(ish) [img][img]
This is looking west(ish) and shows the Cockstane. It will be more enclosed in the future once the trees grow. I hope they are all native species. [img][img]
As you walk round to the Cosckstane, you see what I presume is the actual meeting ground. There is a circle of tree stumps that look like seats [img][img]
Note the small plaque on the right hand side[img][img]
