I've searched far and wide, to see if my name (Weatherhead) is a sept of any recognized Scottish clan/family. The name comes from the border area of Berwickshire, Scotland. I have found ancestors in Eccles Parish, in Lauderdale Parish, and Coldstream (home of the famous Coldstream Guards regiment). There is even a hill in the are, called "Weatherhead Hill." Believe me, I've asked this question on geneology site forums.....Done internet searches..nobody can give me an answer, either way. Alternate spellings of my name are: Whetherhead, Weyderherd, Weiderhead, Weatherhed.
ARIZONA CELT
I believe that Berwickshire is very much Clan Home (Hume) territory. Black, The Surnames of Scotand, has a George Hume Weatherhead (1790?-1853), author of several medical works and MP for Edinburgh. This gentleman may well have had a family connection to the Homes/Humes.
Hmmm. Interesting. I'll look it up. Thanks.
