Assistance requested from the Historians amongst the Rabble!

The Women’s Board of the Wolfson Children’s Hospital here in Jacksonville, FL holds an annual art and antique show and sale as a fund raiser for the hospital. The event is preceded by a black tie gala which attracts a number of influential people from the northeast Florida region. This year, the chosen theme is “A Highland Fling” and the Women’s Board has asked the Saint Andrew’s Society of Jacksonville for assistance in staging the event. That’s how I became involved.

I’ve been asked to assist in obtaining articles for the program for the gala. One of the articles being proposed concerns notable southern Americans of Scottish heritage, particularly those with a connection to Florida. I don't feel as if I can essay this undertaking by myself. Therefore I seek assistance from the great rabble!

Please chime in with any names you feel worthy of inclusion in such an article, preferably with a line or two concerning the accomplishments of said individuals. I'll undertake fact checking and write the final copy.

    So....who needs to be included?

    My thanks to you all!

I would suggest the late Wayne Scott of the Orlando area. Wayne made costume and clown shoes for RBBB and others for forty years. Before he died, he was honored by the Governor of Florida for making a significant cultural contribution to the state.
