    Clan MacMutt

After reading the recent survey responses as to ancestry, I find a lot of people like myself, who are a Mutt, with a varried and proud background.

So in the future, if someone asks, I will tell them the Clan MacMutt, then while they have the stunned look on their face, I will explain.

We are blessed with the best of a lot of people, so lets be proud of it.

Also, I have found there is some Native American in my background. A long time ago I read s Sci-Fi story where one of the minor story lines was when people left the Earth to colonize the stars, it was found out that there was a lot similarity between the Scottish Clans and the Native American Tribes. These two groups melded together to colonize a planet. One character refered to himself as a "Highland Apache". No idea of the title or aurthor but, an interesting concept.

Nice concept. Clan MacMutt should have a tartan like the other clans. Something worth thinking about?

It already has two beautiful historic tartans: Hunting Stewart and Caledonia. Both are readily available in a wide range of color schemes, weights, and prices.

    Caledonia

    Hunting Stewart

Just a bit of a reality check. There is no Clan MacMutt.

Right...I thought that was obvious to other folks. Perhaps "mutt" is much more widely used here in the States for someone who is of mixed ethnic heritage, in the same way that a mutt is a dog of mixed breeding. Perhaps the inherent humor / fiction is lost over the internet.

That being said, there IS a Clan MacBubba:

    Re: Clan MacMutt

Mutt is an Americanism, the equivalent term in the United Kingdom (in terms of meaning) is mongrel, which would probably be taken as an insult if applied to a person instead of a canine.
